Adolescence represents an important life stage for the development of healthy nutrition behaviors. This study is aimed to investigate the awareness and preference regarding Kimchi and attitude characteristics among male middle school students in Daegu. Associations of preference of Kimchi and awareness of Kimchi were also examined. The subjects for this study were 200 middle school male students. The study involved a survey on awareness and preference levels on Kimchi. Spearman correlations between the kimchi preference score and the attitude score were used and p-values <0.05 were considered significant. As the results, the average age of the students was 13.4 yrs, average height and weight were 170 cm and 60.4 kg. 93.5% of the students were satisfied with the Kimchi, while 8% of the students responded they did not eat Kimchi. The positive awareness of Kimchi was found to be 76.5% in students and 70% responded that Kimchi can be introduced to foreign people. In conclusion, there was high awareness and preference of Chinese cabbage Kimchi and they were proud of Kimchi as a Korean food but the other different Kimchi was not well recognized and eaten among the students.<BR> #male middle school students #preference of Kimchi #awarencess of Kimchi
