This study is focused on the regional literature and the possibility of writing the history of regional literature in the view of introspecting and overcoming the modem logic of center and periphery. As a result, the regional literature as a counterpart of center Seoul, Korean literature as a regional literature in the world literature, Korean diaspora literature and etc. could be discussed.
The concern and the research on each regional literature in Korea, which has been performed since 1980s, are the products of reconsidering the 'modem time' concentrated on Seoul since the appearance of modem system and the Seoul centered thought strengthened through the industrialization since 1960s. Therefore it needs to put the regional writings away in order and to recreate the meaning of the region as the real scene of life.
Korean literature may also be a regional literature in the frame of the world literature. Korean literature placed in the nearly peripheral situation should use its cultural vitality as the power of creation. In other words, the possibility of the world text, what Moretti says, should be searched in Korean literature.
The diaspora literature, placed in the border of modem nation of a people, can be discussed in the view of a regional literature. In diaspora literature, all the modem logic of being peripheralized is fused. The particular place of the border becomes the basis of forming a particular literature world. It is, however, an undesirable situation that the research on the diaspora literature has been limited on several particular writers and their works. Therefore it is necessary to do the positive research through the concrete evidence from the formation of Korean diaspora literature to the present situation and to introduce the view of history of literature,
