The purpose of this study was investigate the effects of 12weeks combined exercise training(aerobic exercise and resistance exercise) on arterial vessel structure, function and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in elderly obese Men. We investigated the effect of the regular combined exercise for the body composition, physical fitness, abdominal fat, carotid artery structure and carotid artery function in obese men(BMI, >25㎏/㎡). VO2max was determined for each subjects by administering a treadmill exercise test.
The combined exercise training performed that the resistance training was composed of 65% of 1RM during first 6 weeks (12-15 repetitions per set, 3set), 75% of 1RM during 12weeks (12-15 repetitions per set, 3set), 30minutes a day for 4 day a week and the aerobic exercise was composed of 45-55%HRR during first 6 weeks, 65-75%HRR during 12weeks, 40minutes a day for 4 day a week.
The results showed that body weight, BMI, % body fat, SBP DBP and sit-and-reach were decreased, and VO2max, VO2max/weight, GSML, GSMR, back muscle strength and trunk extension backward were increase in combined training group. Although, Total fat, visceral fat and V/S were decreased, and CIMT, CPFV, CEFV were decreased, and CLD, BLD, RLD and VEGF were increase in combined training group. The CPFV and RLD were significantly negative interrelation and CEFV and VEGF were was negative interrelation.
In conclusion, regulate combined exercise training may prevent to atherosclerosis to negative change carotid artery in abdominal obese men.
