The purpose of this paper is to suggest the necessity of using translation in teaching English as a foreign language and the possibility of applying translation to English education. Translation teaching can be a necessary method to acquire communicative and practical language learning. For this study, 84 undergraduate students were participated in questionnaire research. All the students majored in English language and did not have professional translation experience. The result of this study suggests that not only professional translation skill but translation theory is required from students. Also, the results showed that students’ consciousness and confidence on translation could remarkably improve after translation class. This study concludes that translation education can be one effective way of improving language proficiency with translation practice and theory. Specifically, the teaching of translation theory and application should be implemented.
