Recently debate education is going to be regarded as a significant factor to solve current problems in Korean education. In this paper I analyze the major debate education problems in Korean Language Education and suggest a few solutions. First, the major factors preventing improvement of debate education are Korean traditional culture and school system which prefer obedience to debate. Secondly, the National Curriculum and the methods of teaching and learning are consisted with knowledge and segmented functions of debate. Thirdly, there are few teachers who are professional to educate classroom debating process. Fourthly, lack of supporting system and research for debate education in every class.
Solutions to this problems are 1) to convert current teacher centered employment of the National Curriculum to student oriented way. 2)to reinforce teacher education for debate education from the course of teaching training. 3)to establish a supporting system to change teaching methods from focusing on basic knowledge and function to have students explore way of problem solving through debating. 4)to activate social debate on the issues of current Korean society and connect it to debate education.
