The lastly revised Korean language curriculum has focused on the trend to the integrated curriculum. However, the integrated curriculum between literature and grammar is relatively little concerned. Therefore, the author investigated the method to utilize grammar knowledge when appreciating poetry, in terms of the integration between literature and grammar. The characteristic of language in poetry can be divided into two usages: the usage of general language and the usage of implicative language. The present study only focused on the usage of general language. In order to interpret the meaning of poetry condignly, it should be good at the general usage as well as at the implicative usage for figures of speech and symbol.
In order to identify the purpose of the integration between poetry and literature, it is needed to find the important parts in which the characteristic of grammar plays a significant role in appreciating poetry or the parts for effectively appreciating or interpreting poetry through grammar knowledge. It suggested five factors as these important parts: ① auxiliary particle, ② prefinal-ending, ③ adverb, ④ poetic license. In addition, it found the four factors in each poem, and determined how the function and principle of grammar work in the meaning of poetry. It showed the learning process of mutual text related to grammar factors by providing another literature having similar grammar factors with. As a result, it typologized the grammar factors and led to apply them to another literature.
Lastly, once thinking about the ways to apply such outcomes to curriculum or teaching-learning situation, it can be used as the standard of achievement of curriculum and as unit activities in a textbook. Through such argument, it can improve the appreciation and secure the theoretical basis of the appreciation in literature. On the other hand, it can determine the similarity of principle of grammar between poetry and general language in interpreting fundamental meaning in grammar. Also, the study is significant as the specific method to provide the integration between literature and grammar among the integrated education that the revised curriculum pursues.
