The goal of the study is to find the proper direction of region development based on harmony between project types and environmental conditions to achieve green growth in each region. We select indexes indicating the types of region development projects and environmental conditions. And then we determine what region development projects are good to each region by cluster analysis based on how much the elements required according to project type Si or Gun region has. The number of regions that can be developed as Residing type is 67 regions, Industry 64, Distribution and Transit oriented 30, Tourism & Leisure 37 and Culture &Welfare 59.We also classify the 156 regions into four categories by environmental characteristics that regions have. The results show that 27 regions is belonging to the type of weak green economy&climate change adaptation, 27 to the type of sound green economy& climate change adaptation, 5 to the type of weak green economy & sound climate change adaptation and 97 to the type of moderate green economy&weak climate change adaptation. With the regions located at Seoul Metropolitan Area, industrialized regions located at non-Seoul Metropolitan Area are proper to Residing and Industry based development, while Tourism & Leisure and Culture & Welfare based development are proper to the opposite regions.
More proper to various types of development projects local governments are, poorer environmental characteristics they have. The results show that the some regions with development potential under conventional ways don"t coincide with those under alternative ways considering environmental conditions.
