This study aims to shed new light from the feminine perspective on the novels of Virginia Woolf whose works explore feminine experiences, consciousness as well as feminine values. Claiming that the task of the modern novelists is exploration into the darkness of feminine consciousness, Woolf divulges the feminine world by exploring human consciousness in her novels. Through the suppressed desire and conflicting consciousness of the heroine Clarissa Dalloway in Mrs. Dalloway, Woolf shows that androcentric social norm suppresses not only women but also makes them suffer from the internalization of the masculine social norm. Through the male character such as Septimus Smith who protests against masculinity and who reveals abnormality, Woolf shows in the novel that the male is also subject to suffering from conflict. Instead of resolving social conflict and inconsistency, Woolf visualizes the destructive aspect of the male centered imperial ideology and de-constructs the absoluteness of hegemonic discourse by representing seceders from the normalcy of contemporary society.
