The aim of this study was to identify human stability control during treadmill walking with the variation of Braking Index(BI), and the traditional gait parameters which are walking length and walking width. Also these three variables were analyzed with three different walking speeds(80%, 100%, and 120% of preferred walking speed) on two different aging group(10 old participants` average age was 65.6(±4.1) and 10 young participants`s average age was 27.9(±1.9)). To evaluate the differences in BI and gait parameters between old and young groups during the different walking speeds, two-way ANOVA test was used and Scheffe`s post-hoc analysis was used when the different walking speeds were significantly different with BI and gait parameters. To assess the differences in the different walking speeds for each group, two-way ANOVA nested test was used when the differences occurred between the different walking speeds and groups by two-way ANOVA test. As the result, At BI test, old group was lower than young group and young group was only significantly higher with fastest walking speed than slowest walking speed. At walking length, old group was shorter than young group but both groups were significantly longer with fastest walking speed than the others. At walking width, there was any differences between groups with aging and the different walking speeds. This results were argued in term of sense of stability with aging.
