This study examined how college students perceive Ilbe, the internet community which provoked enormous social concern due to its extreme rightest political ideology. Ilbe is characterized for its resentment against democratic reform and minority groups as well as its provocation of regional sentiment, The study collected data from 200 college students in Daegu area using online survey method. The result reveal that respondents perceive Ilbe users as holding relatively low social economic status, and as having problems in adopting to the requirements of mainstream society. They perceive that the most serious social problem Ilbe might cause is the aggravation of regional conflict. Respondents also revealed considerable psychological distance as such, most of them feel uncomfortable about being in a close or meaningful relationship with Ilbe. The study tentatively concluded that Ilbe phenomenon is not as epidemic among young people as we might concern and most of young people are vigilant about Ilbe"s values rather than buying into them.
