In 1910, lots of Korean migrated into West Gando(西間島) in southern Manchuria of China to look for politic freedom and economic stability. They usually moved to Hwe’in-hyeon(懷仁縣), Yuha-hyeon(柳河縣). The regions were expected that the pressure by Japanese policemen would be less and there would be much of badlands to cultivate. But, it was too distant from their mother country, and the immigrants couldn’t make sure if their decision would be successful. Couldn’t they move their eyes to other regions, then?
In other viewpoint, Andong-heon(安東縣) was the region where the Korean has just passed and was near from their mother country. In the early 1910s, lots of Korean laborers were already moving to the downtown of Andong and the peasants were also moving and living in the downstream of Am’lok River(鴨綠江). Several big sized Korean villages were made in the downstream of Am’lok River, and one of them was the Korean village in Jeom’nisu(接梨樹).
This article will give us about three informations on the Korean village in Jeom’nisu. The first is who established the village. It is the problem of the leaders. The composition of the leaders will have an important influence on character of the village. The second is why Korean established the village in Jeom’nisu. It is the one connected with independence movement. The third is how the village got declined. It is the one related to the conflicts between Korean migrants and Japanese policemen.
