This review article attempts to make a sketchy discription of the research results of Ming-Qing historians in Korea for the two-year period from 2014 to 2015. The researches of this period, amounting to one hundred in number and including journal articles as well as degree theses, can be classified into two groups by their topics: The articles and theses in the first group deal with various historical phenomina within China proper, while those in the second try to cross the borders, by land or by sea, which lie between China proper and its neighboring states or peoples, and pay attention to the international relations and the maritime history in East Asia. In the latter group, which outnumbered the former for the two-year period, are included a number of researches that drew upon the primary sources written in non-Chinese, such as Manchu and Mongol, not to mention those written in Chinese. We may expect that the historians carrying out this kind of researches, despite their minority in number, make significant contributions to understanding of early modern history of East Asia in view of the fact that they are naturally better able to distance themselves from Sinocentrism than their colleagues in China. It should be added that many of the scholars who keep their attention to China proper are also making their share of contributions by presenting a unique historical picture of late imperial China or by advancing step by step toward their own academic goals.
