The purpose of this study is to identify empirically the relationship among self-determination, satisfaction of physical education class and character development, To this end, samples of middle school male and female students who live in ten different districts in Seoul, Gyeong-gi Province and In-cheon Metropolitan City were collected. The sample size of each district was 100 respectively. The final sample size used in convenience sampling, excluded insincere materials, was 962. Validity of the questionnaires was inspected by the experts’ conference, preliminary inspection and factor analysis. The reliability of the questionnaire shows =.695~ =.882. Statistical methods used in analysis are frequency analysis in order to identify internal consistency among questions, reliability verification, exploratory factor analysis and corelation analysis using SPSS 21.0 program. Moreover, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model using AMOS 20 program were used in order to identify research hypothesis. Through these research methods and procedures, the following conclusions were drawn. First, middle school student’s self-determination was a primary mechanism that had a positive effect on satisfaction of physical education class. Second, middle school student’s self-determination was a main mechanism that had a positive influence on character development. Third, middle school student’s satisfaction of physical education class was a key mechanism that had a positive influence on character development.
