The purpose of this study is to examine the perceptive differences on the tourism crisis among various types of tourism business in Jeju. In 2015 Jeju the number of visitors decreased 40-50% during the tourism crisis of MERS. Survey data were collected from 273 local respondents working in various types of tourism business and analysed to test suggested hypotheses.
The results of this study were summarized as follows. First, some perceptive differences on the tourism crisis were found between types of tourism business. Second, the level of tourism crisis perception in public sector is higher than private sector. These results imply that preventive or recovery measures on tourism crisis should be considered the perceptive differences across local tourism businesses, and that local government should make common cause with private businesses to deal with tourism crisis.
