Despite the increasing significance of mobile technology in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learning, most studies have been restricted to areas of vocabulary, grammar, speaking and writing. The present study shifted focus to listening and examined differences in students’ English-listening anxiety after implementing mobile-assisted language learning (MALL). Ten students studying the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) participated in this mixed-method study. A background questionnaire, a TOEFL listening test, and an anxiety-level questionnaire were distributed. During a treatment period, the control group continued using traditional learning materials, whereas the experimental group adopted MALL. Once again they took the TOEFL listening test and anxiety-level questionnaire. Then, the researcher interviewed the participants. It turned out that the experimental group enhanced TOEFL listening comprehension, while the control group remained almost same. The influence of MALL stands out with respect to the participants’ English-listening anxiety: only the score of the experimental group was lowered. Lastly, all participants’ English-listening performance was negatively correlated with their English-listening anxiety. The results from this study could offer a venue for EFL instructors.
