Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) is one of the digital convergence media, and a new medium to provide users with individualized and customized contents for having diverse channels, interactive service and high quality video contents by television and remote control familiar and easy to users. In this respect, IPTV needs to be considered favorably used in the special education area. The purpose of the study is to investigate the awareness of IPTV and demands for introducing and utilizing IPTV in special education. An online survey was conducted nationwide and participants were 1,287 district officers, administrators (principals and vice principals), teachers and the parents of students with disabilities. About 97% of the participants said that they would use or try to use IPTV for teaching students with special education needs. The respondents answered that IPTV would be needed in hospital schools, home schools, itinerant education, optional classes and afterschool classes than in regular classes. They repeatedly said that the educational content from IPTV should be provided by individual learning levels and with self-directed format in those educational settings. Accessibility of using IPTV also should be met with disability types. Aspects of the findings that were similar to and different from general education reported in a previous study were discussed at the end. The advantages of IPTV can appeal to special education area considering the characteristics of the students with special needs.
