The purpose of this study was to examine science teachers' perceptions of gifted education. We investigated the needs of science teachers and their perception of educational programs in gifted education. This study was performed by questionnaire, which consisted of priority of necessary elements for gifted education, identification of the gifted, development of problems to select the gifted, development of educational programs, use of teaching and learning strategies, and use of methods to evaluate. The subjects were about 90 science teachers that have taught the gifted in the adjacent Education Institute for the gifted of Education Districts. Most of them had or so negative perception and were unsatisfied with them. It was found that they wanted to teach effectively and helpful of actually educating their gifted students, especially to be provided with practical in-service programs about teaching and learning methods and strategies. Construction of curriculum and content of in-service programs including educational methods and lecturer should be reflective on needs of secondary school science teachers in gifted education.
