The purpose of this paper is to investigate the way in which zero anaphora, pronouns, and full NPs as the devices for representing referential relations are relayed in English-to-Korean translation. It also investigates what influences linguistic differences in the corresponding expressions of the two languages and how the translation universals have effects on the relaying procedures. Under the assumption that the three kinds of discourse pragmatic concepts have to do with the study of referential relations, the two kinds of English texts and their corresponding translations are analyzed to examine how the interactive relations between the factors are applied in the translation processes
