The purpose of this study is to explore the background and significance of humanities oriented dance education in Korea, and to build basic data for the improvement of school dance education. In this study, 'humanities oriented dance education' is firstly defined as 'the direction of school dance education demanded by this time', focusing on emphasizing humanities education in the 2015 revised curriculum. Section 2 introduced the research methods and procedures for the background and meaning of humanities oriented dance education. In Section 3, the question structure was formed through analysis of previous studies, and the background, meaning, and direction of humanities oriented dance education were explored through in-depth interviews. Section 4 discussed the implications of humanities oriented dance education in relation to major issues derived from the results of the study. The last section consisted of this summaries and suggestions from subsequent studies.
