With the whole world stepping into the Web 2.0, the rapid development of Internet, Internet of Things, and cloud computing has led to the explosive growth of data in almost every industry and business area. From the every beginning, the hospitality industry is the information-intensive business; therefore, it is very pivotal and necessary for managers and operators of this industry to catch up with the latest trend and development of technology to grasp the real-time behavior, experience, satisfaction and response from their customers. This paper presents a series of literature review in consumer research which were conducted with big data and associated analytics towards hotel business so as to identify and summarize the current development and future trend of hotel industry, and examine the extent to which big data feature within academic research in hotel industry. Thereafter, this research can provide some instrumental and up-to-date baseline information for academia and industry, even for the local government by identifying research gaps and offering an agenda for future research.
