In this paper, advanced strategies for integrated automatic shading and lighting control were summarized. Three main categories were analyzed by collecting publications published from 2016 to 2020: input signals, comfort metrics, and control algorithms/strategies.
From this review, the recent trend for integrated shading and lighting control strategies could be summarized as follows: (1) conventional strategies such as cut-off angle strategy, controlling by illuminance level were still frequently used withother methods such as advanced sundial based-model or glare index-based model (2) the glare index-based model, discomfort glare probability(DGP) was the most used index since it has a high correlation. HDR visual sensor was frequently used. (3) novel feedback model by supervised learning model and reinforced learning model has emerged. (4) considering that daylight affects both thermal comfort and heating/cooling load, some researchers proposed strategies considering these factors. (5) integrated shading, lighting, and HVAC control strategy have been suggested. (6) by learning the occupants" perception and behavior, the researcher tried to create an occupant satisfaction model and user behavior-based model.
