This study aims to synthesize phase change material (PCM) nanocapsules for thermal energy storage (TES) and to evaluate their thermal performance. In addition, synthetic parameters were examined to enhance the encapsulation ratio that increases TES capacity of the PCM nanocapsules. The n-octadecane used as PCM core was encapsulated via interfacial hydrolysis and polycondensation of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) in an O/W nanoemulsion. The optimal synthesis protocol for n-octadecane@SiO₂ nanocapsules was determined by varying solvent and n-octadecane/TEOS mass ratio.
