This study aims to examine the correlations between the urban settlement environment and the type of migration, such as family migration, single migration, unmarried single migration, and commuting in innovative cities across the country. Considering the institutional characteristics and urban environment characteristics; safety and medical facilities, cultural and leisure facilities, family member-related facilities, and land use, the correlation of each of the four types of migration was empirically analyzed. As a result of the analysis, family migration showed a significant correlation with areas with close distance from facilities(-), high land complexity(+) and high land compactness(+), while commuting showed a significant correlation with areas with long distance(+) and low land complexity(-), and low land compactness(-). In the case of unmarried single migration, there was no significant correlation in both urban environmental characteristics and institutional characteristics. In the case of single migration, there was a significantly positive correlation between the number of employees(+) and the total number of new employees(+), which describe the size of institutions. Through this study, the implications of the urban settlement environment of innovation cities toward inducing more family migration can be obtained considering it’s original goal of innovation city policy.
