This paper examines the factors behind the popularity of Korean feminist literature, which is currently gaining popularity in Japan, especially the novel Kim Ji-young, Born 1982. Paying attention to the acceptance and current popularity of Korean literature in Japan, it was confirmed that the popularity of Korean literature in Japan is part of the Korean Wave. Korean literature, has long been regarded as third-world literature, yet, it has maintained popularity as K-literature, following K-pop and K-beauty, focusing on feminism, and being influenced by the accumulated Korean Wave.
Furthermore, research on Japanese women"s language and the atmosphere of the literary world showed that research on women"s issues has continually accumulated, Particularly since the 1990s, many works have been created depicting women in difficulties under the patriarchy. However, Japanese women were enthusiastic about Kim Ji-young, Born 1982, which has been released at a time when sexual discrimination still occurs, as women"s issues have not been recognized as a social issue. This may be because the novel naturally projects social problems while portraying individual daily lives. By establishing that the direct expression of everyday life in Kim Ji-young, Born 1982 is a critique of society and a nation that promotes misogyny on behalf of individuals, it was confirmed that Kim Ji-young, Born 1982 is gaining popularity in Japan.
