Keijo Imperial University was the only official school established by Japan in colonial Joseon in the early 20th century, leaving traces in many aspects in the modern era of Joseon. Among the books owned by the library affiliated with Keijo Imperial University, the vernacular chinese Literature Book Collection is preserved as a sole archive. Today, 938 vernacular chinese literary books are left in the archives of the Central Library of Seoul National University as books owned by the library affiliated with Keijo Imperial University. If you review these books, you can find revolutionary literature books on the themes of revolution, labor-class struggle, and overthrow of the capitalist class. The existence of such revolutionary literature books in the library of the Imperial University, which the Japanese Empire created to train colonial elites loyal to their home countries, seems quite strange. There are three reasons why such contradictory confrontations could exist together in the library attached to Keijo University: its special status as an imperial university, its unique academic system, and the role of Professor Takeshi Karashima(辛島驍) of Gina Language Literature. This paper investigated the cause of the existence of revolutionary literature books in the colonial archives, examined the contents of revolutionary literature books in detail, and then identified their historical significance.
