In this study, we conducted a survey of customers with nail care experience, using nail colors (seasonal colors) suitable for various nail shapes as stimuli, and analyzed the differences in nail color preferences according to demographic characteristics such as gender and age, which are the most basic but insufficiently studied characteristics that distinguish customer characteristics. Although nail color preferences differed depending on gender, occupation, appearance care costs, and interest, there were common colors preferred by season. In spring, warm, saturated colors such as salmon pink, apricot yellow, and sprout were preferred. In particular, differences between genders were notable in terms of spring color, with men showing the highest preference for sprout and the lowest preference for salmon pink, but the results for women were the opposite of those for men. In the summer, I preferred cool, highly saturated colors like cobalt blue and cyan. As for summer colors, preference for cobalt blue and cyan was noticeably high in all groups. in the fall, I preferred warm, low-saturated colors like burgundy and brown. Unlike other groups, the group with the lowest interest preferred burgundy and mulberry hruit. Also, in winter, it was found that achromatic colors that give a cold feeling, such as dark gray and silver gray, are preferred. The group with the lowest interest preferred dark gray and white colors, unlike other groups. These research results mean that preference for nail color (seasonal color) is not influenced by nail shape, but by individual characteristics (gender, occupation, external tree maintenance costs, interest) and seasonal characteristics. Therefore, the results of this study mean that general characteristics (gender, occupation, cost of appearance care, interest) and seasonal characteristics should be considered when recommending nail polish colors to nail care customers.
