Live streaming, a new form of broadcasting on online platforms, allows the audience to interact with streamers and other users in real-time. This research investigates how parasocial relationships with a live streamer can promote political participation in the U.S. and South Korea. OLS regression results using online surveys collected in the two countries show that parasocial relationships with a live streamer promote political participation, and that political efficacy moderates the positive effects of parasocial relationships on political participation.
