In this study, the dyeing amount (K/S value), antibacterial properties, deodorizing rate, and the various color fastness of cotton fabric dyed with persimmon juice were evaluated, and the appearance of the fabric, such as mechanical properties, drape stiffness, crease resistance, and drape coefficient, were used to determine the possibility of utilizing persimmon juice-dyed cotton fabric as a fashion and environmentally-friendly functional material. The dyeing amount (K/S value) of the cotton fabric was 6.89, and the surface color was slightly turbid and dark yellow-red, with hue 3.9YR, value 4.3, and chroma 2.76. The persimmon juice-dyed cotton fabric showed excellent an antibacterial activity of 99.9% against Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae and a deodorization rate of over 99%, confirming the functionality of the dyed cotton fabric. The mechanical properties and primary hand value showed that the dyed cotton fabric was stiffer and slightly rougher than undyed cotton fabric. In addition, the examination of the appearance of the fabric in terms of drape stiffness, wrinkle resistance, and drapability showed that the dyed cotton fabric had lower crease recovery and was significantly stiffer than the undyed cotton fabric. The colorfastness of the persimmon juice-dyed cotton fabric was excellent with a grade of 4-5 for light, dry cleaning, and soiling in washing and perspiration, with a grade of 3 for fading in washing and perspiration. Therefore, the cotton fabric dyed with persimmon juice in this study showed excellent antibacterial activity and deodorizing properties, confirming its potential as an environmentally-friendly and health-functional material. It was also confirmed that it can be utilized as a fashion material for designs that express a boxy silhouette by remaining stiff rather than soft and flexible in summer.
