EESLISM is a generalized simulation tool developed by the author[l], [2]. The algorithm is designed to combine both building thermal behavior and mechanical heating and cooling systems including solar energy. In other word, the heat load simulation and heating and cooling system are coupled to simulate the whole energy systems in buildings. Therefore, it is suitable to use EESLISM for the simulation of solar heating and cooling systems which are often designed with combining passive and active technologies.
As the algorithm is also designed to accept any combination of system components and control strategy, EESLISM has enough flexibility to simulate total energy performance of solar heating and cooling system in detail from single family residential houses to various kinds of large buildings such as multi-family residential buildings, office buildings and school buildings.
This paper describes the basic idea of the simulation algorithm of EESLISM especially focused on solar building simulation and the way of designing solar systems with a generalized simulation tool.
