As we know that “Third Party Logistics” (abbreviated to 3PL) becomes more and more popular and the 3PL business is growing in the world, the cost reduction of logistics is emphasized in various kinds of industry as Supply Chain Management (SCM). Petrochemical industry also requires the efficient and optimized logistics as much as possible in order to procure materials and supply products globally to be competitive. Recently we provided Movement Automation System (MAS) to optimize the logistics to a huge petrochemical plant in the industry. The MAS is having not only Order Management interface but also an interface with Transportation Scheduling Module in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in order to improve the efficiency of logistics coordination and planning. And also it’s providing some site-logistics support functions such as ship berthing plan and automatic bay direction on Large Screen Display in addition to the traditional product movements functionalities for the purpose of making site-logistics also more efficient. This paper introduces the MAS to optimize the logistics of petrochemical plant as a case announcement.
