This study suggests vehicle body design method using parametric modeling method. By this method, designer should easily get optimal design include satisfied two critical design variables: joint position and section shape. To summarize this study, the first, SFE CONCPET is used by modeler to construct parametric model. By using it, designers would be able to improve modeling time and design efficiency in initial concept step. The second, NASTRAN is used by solver to analysis bending stiffness, torsional stiffness and dynamic stiffness which are selected as performance index. The third, for design optimization, 11 design variables are selected by sensitive part’s section and joint position. And radial basis function type metamodel established by using the design variables and design of experiment (DOE). Finally the optimal design which is satisfied 3 performance index achieved.
