Incoming students at English-speaking international seminaries and divinity schools no longer come from a mono-ethnic, mono-cultural Protestant ethos. Today, they are beautifully diverse and will continue to be so. Steady streams of new church leadership will travel from non-Western countries as they represent the geographical shift of Christianity into the Majority World. Unfortunately, seminaries have yet to properly accommodate Christianity’s global repositioning. These students are not preformed. They need to learn the skills that were previously taken for granted such as Western logic and writing. The purpose of this article is to provide a better understanding of our new Christian pastors by discussing the backgrounds and life situations of students coming from the Majority World.
