    There are many features which are specific to an ISDN, such as user-network interface, network related aspects which are related variants of or complementary to those pertinent telephony IDN, interworking aspects between an ISDN and existing dedicated networks, inter-exchange signalling aspects. To cover these aspects the CCITT has already introduced the new Recommendations and existing Recommendations. From these CCITT Recommendations and the ISDN evolution strategy, this paper recommends the network architecture of the ISDN in the four important aspects: - network bearer capabilities of the ISDN; - interworking between the ISDN and existing dedicated networks; - user signalling; - inter-exchange signalling.
