This study was conducted to determine effective purifying methods using silica gel column, Shephadex LH-20 column and Varian SCX cation exchange column for 5% tabtoxinine-β-lactam(TβL). TβL was isolated from Pseudomonas syringae MD340a in the soil. The mode of action of TβL was similar to glufosinate(non-selective herbicide), inhibiting a glutamine synthetase in the plant tissues, accumulating ammonia gas and then finally lead to death of plants.
