The endoesophageal tube(EET) was newly developed for controlled mechanical ventilation in rabbits. A technique using EET has been described as a rapid, easy, atraumatic, and reliable method for establishing a patent airway in rabbits. The EET has a distal blocked end for sealing the esophagus, the pharyngeal perforations at the level of pharynx, and an oral cuff for oropharyngeal sealing. The patent airway of rabbits can be accomplished only by inserting EET into the esophagus. The EET is inserted blindly through the oral route without using laryngoscope and advanced until the line indicating the depth of insertion on the shaft lies between the upper and lower incisors.
