When analog data of encyclopedia of Korean folk is made by which is editing by NFMK, it is converted to digital data. Analog data is paper dictionary and digital data is electronic dictionary which is web-based. The manufacturing method of electronic document to build e-dictionary was used XML (eXetensible Markup Language), markup language of next generation. Unlike an existing HTML, XML is detached markup language with contents, form and structure of document and the most recommending language by W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) where is easy to extend, reproduce, revise and manage. Therefore, encyclopedia of Korean folk will be expected the efficiency of management for administrators, the efficiency of knowledge contribution for users by applying this technology in it.
Encyclopedia of Korean folk is consisted of folk genre of 8 sections, and it is included all the knowledge information. This web service will start to load from database of e-documenting Encyclopedia of Korean seasonal customs, and the rest of the dictionaries of 8 genres will be loaded in sequence. Therefore, Encyclopedia of Korean seasonal customs which is loaded at first should deduce structural characteristics from 8 genres with groping for the plan which can be associated with dictionaries of other genres.
Structural design of XML e-document was made by ‘Structural Element’ and ‘In-Text Element’. The presented structure of this study is goal-oriented structure which can expend and reproduce folk knowledge information gradually, and designed dictionary of 8 genres can exchange associated information each other.
The explicit definition which was based on Structural Element and In-Text Element is applied to data in the future, including analog data which is already created. When you consider about these, analog editing of encyclopedia of Korean folk should reach head and body which is based on formal step such as ‘name of dictionary, volume, domain and field’ and had shown that editing according to subject is necessary.
It needs participation of the folklore specialist’s who is possible about the structural design of electronic document to improve the quality of the folk-related database. This part makes supple connection between analogue and digital and also could be interface between folklore and electronics information as field of study to create Digilogical outcome, and it is the ‘Blue Ocean’ area. When large project for establishing large-scale contents relates to folk and traditional culture in the future, the subject for accomplishing should apply professionals of this field positively, then this project will be able to be successful.

국립민속박물관에서 편찬하는 한국민속대백과사전은 아날로그 자료가 만들어지면, 바로 디지털 자료로 변환되는 특성이 있다. 아날로그 자료는 종이사전이며, 디지털 자료는 웹 기반의 전자사전이다. 전자사전을 구축하는 데 있어 전자문서의 제작방식을 차세대 마크 업 언어인 XML(eXetensible Markup Language)로 정하였다. 왜냐하면 XML은 기존의 HTML과 달리, 문서의 내용, 모양, 구조가 분리된 마크업 언어로서 확대, 재생산, 교정, 관리가 용이한 W3C(World Wide Web Consortium)가 가장 권장하는 언어인 까닭이다. 따라서 한국민속대백과사전을 편찬할 때 이 기술을 적용함으로써 관리자에게 관리의 효율성을, 이용자에게는 지식제공의 효율성을 가져다 줄 것으로 예상된다.
한국민속대백과사전은 크게 여덟 편의 민속장르로 구성되어 있으며 그 안에 모든 지식정보를 담아내고 있다. 한국민속대백과사전 웹 서비스는 전자문서화 된 한국세시풍속사전의 데이터베이스 적재를 시작으로, 나머지 여덟 장르의 사전들이 일정한 시간적 간격을 두고 차례대로 적재될 계획이다. 그러므로 가장 처음 적재되는 한국세시풍속사전을 그 자체의 내용적 특성만 고려하여 XML의 문서구조를 설계할 것이 아니라, 다른 장르의 사전과 연계시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하여 여덟 장르의 큰 틀 거리에서 구조적 특성을 도출해내야 한다.
그러기 위해, 상위요소의 구성인자 역할을 하는 요소인 ‘구조요소(Structural Element)’와 텍스트 중간에 삽입되어 특정 어휘 및 어구의 성격을 식별하는 요소인 ‘문중요소(In-Text Element)’를 이용하여 XML 전자문서의 구조설계를 하였다. 이 글을 통해 제시한 구조는 민속지식정보가 일정한 시점을 두고 점진적으로 확대ㆍ재생산될 수 있게 하고, 여덟 장르의 사전이 서로 연관된 정보들을 주고받을 수 있도록 설계한 ‘목표 지향적’인 구조이다.
구조요소와 문중요소에 입각한 명시적 정의는 이미 생성된 아날로그 자료를 비롯하여 앞으로 생성될 자료에 모두 적용된다. 이러한 특성을 고려할 때, 아날로그 한국민속대백과사전의 편찬은 모든 장르의 사전이 ‘사전명’, ‘편명’, ‘영역명’, ‘분야명’이라는 정형화된 층위에 근거하여 표제어 및 본문에 도달하여야 하며, 주제별 편찬은 필연적이라는 결과가 나왔다.
민속관련 데이터베이스의 품질향상을 위해서는, 전자문서의 구조설계가 가능한 민속학 전공자의 참여가 절실히 필요하다. 이 영역은 아날로그와 디지털 사이에서 유연한 연결고리를 만들어, ‘디지로그(Digilog)’한 결과물을 생산하는 방법을 연구하는 분야로서, 민속학과 전자정보학의 접점분야라 할 수 있다. 그리고 아직 개척되지 않은 ‘블루오션(Blue Ocean)’영역이다. 앞으로 민속 및 전통문화에 관련한 대규모 콘텐츠 구축사업을 수행할 때, 수행주체는 이 분야의 전문인력을 적극 활용해야 사업을 성공적으로 이끌어 낼 수 있을 것이다.
