Byeongjeong, which was compiled around A.D. 1459, was very unique in its composition unlike general strategy book(兵書). It was as like as the code of reducing to writing, especially as Gyeonggukdaejeon(經國大典, National Code). It was largely divided into Bonmun(本文, the text) and Huseo(後?). Bonmun (本文, the text) was composed of 12 items in all. The relevantly detailed provisions are arranged below it. Huseo was briefly described the objective and intention of compilation, and a compiler.
The regime of King Sejo, who had come into power through a political change, concentrated on arranging new system that substitutes for what is conventional as for the military organization and the land system when launching. In particular, the military organization was aimed to achieve its goal through establishing Owije(五衛制, Five Military Commands system).
First of all, it newly arranged a method of performing task in branch of the army, which belonged to Owi(Five Military Commands), and its command system, in addition to revising disposition of troops, which becomes the foundation. It was integrated directly into compilation of Byeongjeong, and took the form of the code of reducing to writing in light of characteristics in work.
Due to this, the core figures of including a king largely participated in its compilation. On the other hand, there had been even the intention of trying to be directly concerned in commanding an army.
