This paper deals with nouns of Ainu dialect and Russian. The Ainu is a dying-out language with a small and rapidly dwindling number of speakers, and has been endangered at least for the past few decades. It has a small but recently increasing number of speakers. The conclusion of this paper is as follows: In Russian, the categories of aspect and animacy exist, while in Ainu language, they are absent. The grammatical category of number in Ainu language has unique features. For example, a noun ‘seta’ can designate “dog” or “dogs” according to the context, a noun ‘cip’ - ‘boat’ or ‘boats’. There exists the personal prefixes in Ainu language. In Ainu language, there is not morphological category of case. The subject, predicate, direct object and an indirect object occupy particular positions in sentences, that is, a word order is a crucial factor in the formation of a phrase. The case in Ainu language is designated exclusively by means of postposition, which the noun does not decline. Postpositions would be a subject for the further research.
