Until now, the existing evaluations of Kim Gi-rim's poetry are something critical. On the whole, the main point is his poetry do not reach to the depth, but remain on the surface of the world, and they are lack of thought, and have a skeletal expression of language etc.
But these are results of misunderstanding the historical and coherent circumstances around the Kim Gi-rim's poetry. As a modernist poet, he try to show the reality of the world he belonged. His versification seems like making gold leaf and the poetic subject is similar to train. In spite of Many other researcher have pointed out the disintegration of self in his poem 『Weather Map』, but he pursuits a concrete interrogation on the matter how one represent the real world.
In the argument on technique between Imhwa, he also emphasizes this reality beyond disguise and technique. It's the background of his so called 'unlovely poem'. I think they should be more productive and dialogic relation, but unfortunately both of them are being victims of the violence of modern Korean history.
