Measuring the amount of water in GDL is very important, because it is very closely linked to the performance of fuel cell. Flooding can be occurred at the beginning of the start up with high current densities. In order to know the amount of water in GDL, the dew point temperature of the outlet gases are measured, and heater was used to evaporate the entire water into vapor. The ohmic resistance and differential pressure at the each electrode is measured, and the data are also used to estimate the amount of vapor inside PEMFC. The amount of water in membrane is induced using the cell resistance, and the differential pressure is the main reason to measure the amount of water in channel. The proposed model can predict the GDL flooding with measuring the amount of water in GDL. Furthermore, the predict results are very good agreement with the experimental results. Moreover, the amount of water acrossing the membrane from cathode to anode also can be derived, and the portion of water in cathode and anode can be divided with this data. It is expected that the increasement of performance of fuel cell can be achieve using this model with better water management.
