This study attempts to explore the economic theology and economic ethic in the Psalms. In order to achieve this goal, the several Psalms were investigated, in which the psalmist is identified himself as a poor and the issue of wealthy- poverty is discussed in the whole text. In particular, by analyzing each Text, this study pays attention to the social-economic statue of the Psalmist, his enemy and his audience. In result, we discover that the economic theology and ethic in the Psalms is not one, but has various aspects. In particular, the economic theology has two dimensions, on the one hand the religious dimension, on the other hand the social-economic dimension. The Result could be summarized as what follows. First, the theology of poverty on the religious dimension is divided itself into individual case and the collective case. Both of the cases is the poverty spiritually and morally idealized. And the poverty function, as the theological basis for the salvation of God. However, in the case of the individual poverty plays YHWH as a role of the emotional supporter. But in the case of collective poverty is YHWH a political king and judge for the whole World. Second, the Theology of poverty on the social-economic dimension has two different positions, whether the psalmist belongs to the lower-class or the rich-class. When the psalmist belongs to the lower-class, the psalmist appears to be deeply enraged against the rich-class. On the contrary, when the psalmist belongs to the rich- class, he requires to the lower-class not to be enraged against the rich-class. Furthermore, he requests to the rich-class the economic solidarity with the lower-class. In this point the psalmist offers not the concrete suggestions for the social-economic justice in the israelite society. Through this study, it is hoped that the Psalms like other texts in the O.T. contributes for the discussion about the social-economic theology and ethic in the Israelite society.
