Wax esters are consisted of long chained fatty acid and fatty alcohol, which are a major component of the lipid produced by skin cells. Wax esters are widely used in cosmetic industries as raw materials of moisturizers and emulsifying agents. In addition, it also applied in chemical industry such as lubricant and a plasticizer. Recently, micro-diesel, a sort of wax ester, has been focused on because it showed advantage over biodiesel in economic aspects. Wax esters are found in plants and some fish including whales and other deep water fish which faced with extinction. Because of prohibition of hunting whales, wax esters were extracted from some plants, notably jojoba.
