In order to analyze the effects of the achievement goal, self-confidence in sports and self-management ability on the players’ perception of error, this study searches for the relationships among the three components and the positive consequences of mistakes in the practices and games. This study is ultimately intended to improve the players’ competency in performance through a positive thinking by exploring the relevant components. The results are as followed: while the achievement goal orientation has a statistically significant effect on the self-management ability and mistake recognition, the achievement goal orientation has no significant effect on the recognition of mistakes. Also, the achievement goal orientation has influenced on the self-confidence in sports, which has not influenced on the recognition of mistakes.
In conclusion, students with the high achievement goals have resulted in a high degree of their self-management abilities, and those with the high scores of self-management ability have shown a positive influence of their acknowledgment of mistakes (learning from mistakes, challenging attitudes toward mistakes, and mistake itself).
