The core of the dramatic structure of Wordsworth’s poem is the work of representing himself and separating the poetic speaker’s (or Wordsworth’s) self. Through “Resolution and Independence,” this paper traces the separation of the poetic speaker’s (or his) self divided into two ways, reality and vision. The reader will be able to deeply delve into the important meanings of the process of self-separation (of the speaker or the writer), and the process of his independence and his after-image. The way in which Wordsworth separates the poetic speaker’s (or his) self is not simply a formal projection method or a simple fiction or fantasy pursuit, but a trail of thought about the basis of his own perception through self projection. It is also true that Wordsworth’s own uneasy situation caused him to repeatedly drive him to self-projection and self-construction efforts. The reader will read the evidence of Wordsworth’s anxiety due to his father’s loss. The images built by Wordsworth in his heart are deeply related to the internalization work that is made possible by idealizing the elderly in “Resolution and Independence.” The internalized ideal appear to be a projection of his will to replace his lost father.
