The purpose of this study is to understand the competence of the airline flight attendant focused on airline"s flight attendant and university students majoring in aviation services. This was achieved by undertaking of qualitative research techniques. This was in-depth interviews of 16 flight attendants who are training instructors, pursers, and 68 university students majoring in aviation services about competence of airline flight attendants from August 2018 to September 2019.
As a result, the competence required for flight attendants were surveyed as interpersonal relationship competence, personal effectiveness competence, cognition competence, and management competence presented in previous studies. In particular, interviews with the flight attendants found that there are new factors that demonstrate the flight attendant"s competence for human core competence and self-health competence.
Through this study, university students majoring in aviation services can clearly grasp the competence of flight attendant, and it is expected to secure competitiveness in preparation process and reference tools to prepare for airline employment.
