In Shakespearean tragedies, the dramatic technique of contrast and antithesis is mainly used to present the themes as well as the characters. Shakespeare presents them not in a simple way of parallel or juxtaposition but in a ironic and complicated one. So, the ironic contrasts to love and justice are explored to clarify some key issues and to know the dramatic vision in Othello. Othello pursues justice to prove his love of Desdemona. to practice his justice, he makes up his mind to kill Desdemona. But he deals with and kills her unjustly. This is a major irony related to the justice theme. Othello’s tragic flaw - his habit of guessing and his superstitious character - drives him to indulge in unreasonable behaviors and illusions, so he makes the mistake of unwisely applying justice to love. In his value system justice overrides love.
