This study aimed to investigate the moderating effect of regular physical activity participation on the relationship between death anxiety and successful aging in elderly women. To achieve this objective, data were collected from 206 elderly women, and the analysis was conducted in line with the research purpose, yielding the following conclusions.
Firstly, death anxiety among elderly women negatively affects the autonomous life and self-fulfillment orientation aspects of successful aging. It was found that as death anxiety decreases, the levels of autonomous life and self-fulfillment orientation increase.
Secondly, the moderating effect of regular physical activity participation was observed in the impact of death anxiety on the autonomous life aspect of successful aging. Specifically, elderly women who participated in regular physical activity did not experience significant negative changes in their autonomous life despite higher levels of death anxiety. In contrast, those who did not participate in regular physical activity showed a significant decline.
In conclusion, reducing death anxiety is essential to promoting successful aging in elderly women, and regular physical activity has been suggested as an effective method for achieving this. Policy support is needed to help elderly women maintain a more autonomous life through participation in physical activities.
