The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cycling participants' awareness of safety accidents on their ability to respond to first aid, focusing on recreational athletes and hobbyists. From December 2023 to March 2024, an online/offline survey was conducted with a total of 369 recreational athletes and hobbyists who participate in cycling in the Seoul and Gyeonggi metropolitan areas. Various statistical analyses, including correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted on a total of 344 valid samples. According to the research results, first, there was no significant difference between genders in safety accident awareness and first aid response ability depending on the demographic characteristics of cycling participants, and there was no significant difference in age, exercise experience, participation time, and participation frequency. Second, in the correlation analysis between cyclists' safety accident awareness and first aid response ability, it was found to have a positive (+) effect. Third, there was a significant difference in the safety accident awareness of cyclists in the sub-factors of emergency response ability: requesting help, acting in emergency situations, handling sudden situations, handling tissue damage, and providing help.
