This article explores the historical evolution of ancient Chinese and Korean dragon-maiden stories, using folk tales from the 20th century as texts to compare and analyze two similar types of dragon-maiden stories in China and Korea: “marriage between a dragon maiden and a commoner” and “dragon maiden's gratitude”. From the perspective of “storytelling mode”, the model framework of “Dragon woman's story of gratitude” between China and South Korea is summarized. Both Chinese and Korean dragon maiden's gratitude stories carry cultural connotations such as “criticizing social realities” and “pursuing a better life”. Analyzing Chinese and Korean folk dragon-maiden stories helps to understand the evolution and development of ancient dragon-maiden stories in the context of modernization, and allows dragon-maiden cultural products from the two countries to learn from each other through sharing, thereby establishing a deeper cultural resonance.
