This study aimed to explore effective and competitive development strategies for physical education-related majors in non-capital region universities in South Korea, which are inevitably sensitive to the decline in school-age population. To achieve this goal, qualitative research methods were utilized, with a focus on focus group interviews to derive research results.
The findings revealed that: Physical education-related majors in non-capital region universities need to implement innovative changes in response to the rapidly changing society.
There is a necessity to explore the regional characteristics of sports in the area to establish better competitiveness compared to other regions.
It is important to provide diverse and creative student support programs.
Finally, it is essential to identify the needs of the local community and to specifically establish community engagement programs accordingly.
